The Caribbean region runs along the tropical coastlines of the American continents and continues through the archipelago bounded by the Caribbean Sea on the inside and the Atlantic Ocean on the outside. This group of islands is around 800 km (497 miles) wide and almost 2,000 kilometers (1,242 miles) long.

The Caribbean underwater world lends itself for a wide variety of subtropical dive experiences.
To start with, warm currents keep the water tem- perature above 20 degrees C (68 degrees F) and this encourages the growth of a great assortment of unique flora and fauna. Coral sponges of countless shapes, that grow at all depths, are distinctive to these waters.
The "drop-offs" that submerge vertically to depths of up to 2,000 m (6,500 feet) shape the most spectacular landscapes and ensure the most thrilling dives.
Parallel to the coast of Belize runs a coral barrier that is 402 km (250 miles) long, making it the second most important barrier reef in the World. Here is also the home of  "The Blue Hole", the biggest in the Caribbean, which was explored by Jacques Cousteau in 1972.
The Caribbean sea features a rich mixture of living creatures: fishes of all sizes, crabs, lobsters, shrimps, sharks and whale sharks, stingrays, dolphins and more.
